The Semicolon project
what is the semicolon project?
I hid 24 canvases around my high school campus, outside or inside classrooms or buildings. Each is unique in color and design. They are relatively simple but are filled with meaning. Each one has an ombre background with a silhouette or line symbol/drawing that is inspired by common mental health tattoo designs. The project is inspired by the semicolon which people who have struggled with suicidal thoughts or tendencies get tattooed. A semicolon is "used when an author could've chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to" -Amy Bleuel (who popularized the semicolon tattoo).
